About Book Boast
Newsletter Swaps
Just about every successful self-published author has their own newsletter mailing list, where they ask their readers to sign up, and the readers then get access to new releases, ARCs, freebies and various other goodies from the author.
And one of the things that many readers (98.2% to be exact!) like to get from their favorite author is a book recommendation. Just about all authors are readers too, afterall, and a lot of them have good taste... or like to think so anyway :)
Newsletter swaps is a system whereby authors can find other authors in their genre who also have a newsletter mailing list full of readers, and they can then exchange book recommendations. You recommend my book to your readers, I'll recommend your book to my readers. After all, if you have a month between book launches, for example, it's smart to send your readers some kind of email, just so they don't forget about you. Why not a book recommendation email?
But it goes way beyond that too. You might find 5 different authors that are willing to recommend your book, and those authors might send a book promotion request to you in turn... or they might go ask any one of a number of other authors to recommend their book to readers.
Of course, you're under no obligation to promote other author's books. If you're going to recommend a book to your readers you should make sure that it's something you enjoy, and that your readers will enjoy. So every time an author sends a request to promote a book to you, you have the option of accepting or rejecting their request.
With newsletter swaps, authors can also choose to have readers who take advantage of a book download added to their reader newsletter list. It's a great way to quickly grow a newsletter list!
Group Giveaways
Group giveaways are a fantastic way for authors to pool their collective resources together, to promote a whole bunch of books. Here's how it works.
A group of authors in a genre all get together. They each decide on one of their books to contribute to the giveaway. Usually, it's a prequel or the first book in a series -- something to get a reader hooked and coming back for more.
The authors all make their book available for free, and the books are all shown together on a single page.
Every author is then responsible for sharing the giveaway page. Each author shares the giveaway link in their reader newsletter, on social media, and wherever else they connect with readers. And because each individual author is doing this, there's a collectively massive response.
Each author gets a ton of new readers who chose to download their book, and readers get a bunch of great books for free. Everyone wins!
With group giveaways, authors can also choose to have readers who take advantage of a book download added to their reader newsletter list. It's a great way to quickly grow a newsletter list!
We'll do all the hard work of hosting and distributing your ebook files, creating a download page for you and creating an attractive group giveaway page. All the authors need to worry about is getting readers to the page.
Book Giveaways
Book giveaways are similar to group giveaways, but the author is only giving away their own book, there's no group.
Book Giveaways are a great way to do a number of things though, such as distribute books to ARC readers or beta readers, reward loyal fans with a freebie, or add new readers to a newsletter list.
